PHIL BERWICK president of LTC pioneered aggressive programs in countering the Dutch elm disease threat in the 70s and 80s in the Chicago land area through surveillance and control measures. Elmhurst,  Illinois was chosen to field test a biological cure for the disease for several years. Many cities and town have modeled their forestry departments after Elmhurst’s aggressive disease control measures and tree care ordinances, which Phil helped implement.

“The Living Tree Care Company” was first founded in 1991 in the St Louis area, performing excellent tree work in the urban arena. Our vision expanded to training homeowners and landscape personnel at area colleges, and forestry and parks workers in cities and towns in care of their trees and in training in the same.
